JorJan Borlin earned a Bachelor of chemistry curriculum from Iowa State University in Ames; and a Masters of Science in inorganic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison Wisconsin. JorJan and her husband Peter Schwei had a son Theodore Naemyd and a daughter Coriandra. Both children lost their lives to a genetic disease known as Sandhoff disease. In order to care for her son at home during his illness, JorJan created a home knitting business using wool from sheep her husband raised on their farm. She is on the boards of The Hodan Center, a non-profit agency helping developmentally disabled adults; the Strategic Planning Committee for Dodgeville Schools; the Iowa County Long-term Support Committee; and the Great River Independent Living. JorJan is an Energy Planner for the State of Wisconsin.
