Your life shared with us was all too brief Your example continues to be an inspiration for all of us. We are proud of you Julia. We love you. Mother, Dad, John, Ann, Bob, Pat, Julie, Diann, Tony & Emily, Julia, Diane, Merfeld was born August 26, 1958 in Mason City, Iowa.
Upon graduation from Rockford Senior High Julia attended North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. Her compassion and desire to help people were factors in her decision to complete her studies at the University of Northern Iowa and subsequently teach elementary school. However after nearly completing her degree she realized that she could better serve people with a career in nursing. Therefore she enrolled in the College of Nursing at the University of Iowa where she truly found her calling helping the sick and the suffering. On July 11, 1982 within one semester of graduating as a registered nurse Julia was killed while riding her bicycle near Iowa City.
