We wish to honor our daughter Katherine who grew up in Ames, Iowa and learned as a child to love Iowa State. She received an excellent education at Iowa State University and is now making a professional contribution reflecting that education. Her achievements are making a difference in the lives of many people. Katherine became a student at Iowa State in 1972 and was graduated with a degree in Music Education in 1976.

Her student activities at Iowa State included: Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Musica Antigua, Brass Quintet and Choir Marching Band and Stars Over Veishea. She served as Drum Major of the Marching Band during her senior year. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota. Katherine obtained a Master's Degree in Music from the University of Michigan in 1977.

Her professional accomplishments to date include teaching music at the Glidden Iowa Public School teaching instrumental music at the Dexfield Iowa Public School and at the Des Moines Public Schools. She is also presently teaching the lower brass students at Drake University. Katherine has played Trombone with the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra for the last 17 years. She has played with the Des Moines City Band the Ames Municipal Band and with numerous other instrumental ensembles.
