After graduating from Iowa State Katie would go on to leave her fingerprints on thousands of people, often during some of the most crucial times in their lives. This is evident just by looking at some of the titles she would adorn in her professional life: preschool director, elementary teacher, register nurse, clinical nurse specialist. Whether it was teaching children how to read, helping nursing students study for their boards, or walking through a patient’s options for end of life care; Katie always approached it with more patience and care than anyone could ever hope for.

Katie also carried titles in her personal life which were even more monumental to the people she cared for most: wife, mom, grandma, friend. She always put in the extra effort to make moments special. Families with new babies could always expect a baby quilt, gatherings could expect homemade desserts, occasions would be accompanied by thoughtful gifts, Katie’s impact remains active in everyday moments of laughter, determination, and that extra bit of care by those she loved.

With great love we remember, one of the hardest working, compassionate, loving women we will be blessed to know.
