Some people come into our lives and quickly go; some people stay awhile and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same. Kim R. Bailey and Elaine A. Bailey left footprints on all of our hearts, and our lives were enriched forever by their friendship and love.

Elaine A. Bailey (June 20 1935-June 25 1994)

Kim's mother, Elaine, epitomized hospitality by her lifestyle of inclusion of all people. All of us were welcomed into her home, her life, and her heart with a genuine love that enveloped and surrounded us. Elaine accepted all of us as if we were her own children, making us feel very important and special. Her attentive listening ability showed us that she cared and was sincerely interested in our lives.

Having "mothered" so many of us with her love and concern, she became "Mom Bailey" to the ISUOF's. We truly felt like we were a part of her family. Her beaming smile and delightful laughter cheered us, but her love and hospitality made us feel at home.

Kim and Elaine Bailey will live on in our hearts and memories forever. We loved them and miss them dearly. Thanks to the Plaza of Heroines, their lives can be honored for the contributions they made as heroines in our lives. Peace be with you, Kim and Elaine. We love you.
