Lemma Lawrence Henning (1895-1984) embodied the values of the Iowa farm wife and mother during the glory years and depression years of Iowa agriculture in the twentieth century. From hired farm girl to farm wife to retired life in town she quietly took on the tasks of making a living from the land raising a family caring for friends and neighbors pursuing learning and culture and supporting her church. By example she taught the values of hard work kindness and dignity to her children and grandchildren.
