Lenore Springer Bancroft (b. 1908 d. 1981)

As wife of Theodore A. Bancroft, first permanent director of the Statistical Laboratory at Iowa State from 1950 to 1972, she was very supportive of him and his vigorous efforts to shape the statistics program and the statistical center. She was born in Hartford City, Indiana and was a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington. Prior to her marriage in December 1933, she taught in public schools in Indiana. Many faculty members and alumni as well as their wives remember Lenore Bancroft with affection and recall her kindness and the generous hospitality extended.
