The family of Lois Miller Hird, ISU graduate 1923, wish to honor our mother with a brick for the Carrie Chapman Catt plaza. Mother was a great supporter of ISU and visited from Cedar Rapids many times over the years, the last time for her 50th class reunion. Our dad, Allen B. Hird, was also an ISU graduate, as were all three of their children and most of their grandchildren.

Mother was a very kind, thoughtful person, loved greatly by her family and many friends. She was a woman before her time, as she was very interested in politics, not only in the U.S.A. but world wide, and wrote many letters to our leaders and others abroad. She was very concerned with the Civil Rights issue and spoke her piece many times on the subject. Mainly she was interested in her family and left us a wonderful example to follow. We feel she would be proud to be a part of this interesting project.
