I would like to be remembered as a woman who contributed wholeheartedly to my family, my community, and my state. Volunteering has always been a part of my life as I believe that one must be a giver as well as a receiver or one is a barren tree. My commitment to politics is another dimension of public service involving change for the betterment of society. First, as a Scott County Supervisor and now as a State Senator, I believe that Iowa offers the best opportunities for women to grow, to expand their horizons, and to contribute to making our communities and families tie strongest in this country. As a part of a small agribusiness, I know that Iowa has much to offer those with a work ethic and entrepreneurial ideas. Now I am seeking to be the first Iowa female to be elected to the U.S. Senate. No matter what happens my roots are deep in this rich Iowa soil as I firmly value a cohesive family, close personal relationships, and strong religious convictions.
