Born on March 14, 1921 in Farmington, MO. She was the daughter of Floyd W. Davis and Willie Hooe Ballard, the sister of Richard Sherman Davis and Mary Shaw Davis.

She attended school at Annie Lloyd Elementary, Farmington Junior-Senior High Schools 1923-1938, Stephens College for Women, Columbia MO A.A. 1938 -1940, St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO B.S. 1941-1944.

She worked for Missouri State Board of Heath Examiners R. N. 1944.
