On Mother's Day May 8, 1994, we would like to honor Marilyn Evelyn Wilhelm in the "Plaza of Heroines" for her contribution to our lives and the lives of others. She is our wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, teacher, and friend.

She has spent her life teaching us to be leaders and achievers at home, work, and in our communities.

Marilyn Evelyn Longnecker Wilhelm was born in Sac County on December 19, 1933. After graduating from Sac Community High School in 1952, she attended Iowa State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics in 1956. As a devoted ISU alum, she has rarely missed a Veishea celebration since then.

After graduation, Marilyn taught Home Economics in Humboldt and Lytton. She married Keith Wilhelm in 1958 and over the next 26 years, she raised three sons: Lance, Kevin, and Brent. She has been involved with many community activities such as teaching Sunday School and Preschool and helping with community theater and ails. Her devotion to the community was recently honored in the Sac High Hall of Fame.

Today, her sons along with her husband Keith, daughters-in-law Joy and Jayne, and grandchildren Madeline and Dylan would like to honor her with an honor brick in the "Plaza of Heroines."

Marilyn's commitment to her family, friends, and community have inspired us to actively pursue our own goals.
