Mary Carole Williams Cook was born February 24, 1965, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Dallas and Darlene Williams. She was raised on a farm south of New Providence and graduated from Eldora-New Providence High School in 1983.

Her favorite activities while in school included playing the flute, participating in speech contests and cheerleading. Following high school, Mary Carole attended Iowa State University and graduated in December 1986 with a degree in Family Resource Management and Consumer Sciences.

She married Scott Cook (I.S.U. 1986 AgE) in December of 1986 and they spent three years working in the Chicago area where Mary was employed in the accounting field. Currently, Mary Carole, Scott, and their daughter Katie (born March 14, 1983) live on an acreage near Cedar Falls.

Mary Carole enjoys part-time employment with Century Companies of America in Waverly and Scott is a design engineer with John Deere. Mary Carole and her family are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Cedar Falls and the Cedar Falls SnoHawks, the local snowmobile club in which they are active in fund-raising for spina bifida.
