Mary Maneval, a poultry farmer in central Pennsylvania for over 50 years, was born in 1916, and is my grandmother. I am honoring her because she served as a tremendous role model and mentor throughout my entire life, especially during my childhood. I have learned countless life lessons from her and now realize just how much she has helped to shape my personal values system. A pioneer operating her own poultry business alongside her husband's dairy farm without knowing it or labeling it as such; many of my own feminist thinking stems from her matriarchal family position.
