Mary Sawyer

Mary R. Sawyer held a tenure-track appointment in Sociology from 1986 to 1993 at Iowa State University. Upon being tenured, her appointment was changed to be full-time in the Religious Studies Program. She is also a co-founder of the African American Studies Program. The Department of Sociology is pleased to honor her contributions to the university.

Mary passed away on May 20, 2015. She died in the loving care of the Dubuque Franciscan sisters at Clare House.
