Michelle M. Hendricks joined Thielen Student Health Center as its director in April 2009. An experienced United States Air Force Reserve Colonel, Hendricks brought both clinical skill and strong leadership to her position at Iowa State University. Her passion for student success was evident in her desire to develop her team – not only in clinical skill, but also in their roles as student affairs professionals.

She has a passion for connecting the work of Student Health to student success and brought years of Student Health experience and expertise to her administrative role. Hendricks’ experiences includes a broad range of program oversight responsibilities, including extensive background in leading campus planning and response to public health challenges. In addition, she held prevention services programming dear and was a champion for high-quality sexual assault response in our community.

Hendricks held student veterans in high regard and chaired the Military Student Task Force that concluded in the creation of the Iowa State University Veterans Center. Hendricks contributions to the Thielen Student Health Center made a lasting impact, and as she resigned from the position, her management team honored her contributions with a Plaza of Heroines brick.
