Pat Honn was born in Charleston, Illinois on April 14, 1926 ... Easter Sunday that year. She graduated from the University of Michigan where she met her husband Fred S. Hopkins. Two sons and twin daughters were born in three years. The family moved to Ames in 1959 where. Fred taught Forestry Economics at Iowa State University. When the children were in high school Pat began to work for the Ames Public Library only leaving the post as Circulation Head to go with her husband to live in Peru for 2 years. After returning to Ames she worked as secretary for the United Church of Christ-Congregational and I.S.U. Campus Ministry before retiring for good in 1989. She is a member of Faculty Women's Club League of Women Voters Chapter HO of P.E.O. Kappa Delta Sorority and is active in various volunteer roles. Travel is important to Pat too. Trips were taken to Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and North and Central America.
