Rosa Cunningham was a high-spirited devoted energetic and loyal woman to women's rights - especially the Equal Rights Amendment. She was a dedicated and faithful member of the Business & Professional Women’s organization both in her local organization in Des Moines and in the State Federation. She untiringly gave of herself.

In 1983 BPW/Iowa established the Rosa Cunningham Scholarship program joining forces with the Iowa Department of Public Instruction through ISU Ames Iowa to set up five workshops around Iowa for continuing education in the field of advanced science and math.

Endorsed by BPW/USA Rosa Cunningham paved the way as a leader through BPW/Iowa promoting full participation equity and economic self-sufficiency for working women. On Memorial Day 1987 Rosa was called into eternity. BPW/Iowa was indeed honored that she touched so many lives. "She had no survivors but each individual she touched was a survivor" a quote from one BPW member. She endorsed everything for which every working woman would wish -- equality for all working women!
