She was a Home Economics teacher at New York State, Research Assistant and Associate at Cornell, Associate Professor of Home Economics Education at West Virginia University, Director of Family Resources at West Virginia University, Associate Dean Interim Graduate College Iowa State University, Head of Department of Home Economics Education Iowa State University, Mary B. Welch Distinguished Professor in Home Economics Iowa State University. Wrote many books, articles for professional journals and reports for symposiums.
