Ruth counseled and contributed to the living skills of junior high school girls for more than 20 years. Her meals were top-notch, as you would expect from a Foods & Nutrition teacher. And she was the wind beneath the wings of her husband and two sons.

Born June 18, 1901 in Villisca, IA. Died April 18, 1991 Davenport, IA. Grew up in Ames, IA. Graduated with B.S. in Home Economics from ISU in 1924. Married with two children. Taught Home Economics at J.B. Young Junior High School 1944-1966. One of the first married female schoolteachers in the Davenport Public School System. Charter member of Octave Thanet Book Club in Davenport.
