Sally graduated with K-12 teaching certification in physical education and health. She has been very active in her profession and is a regular participant at state, district, and national conventions of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. She is an American College of Sports Medicine certified health and fitness instructor.

Sally is a dedicated and talented teacher, striving for maximum participation of each child in her classes. She is extremely creative in designing classroom activities and "fun" movement experiences to encourage her students to understand the importance of exercise and wellness. Sally extends her personal caring to clients of all ages. She has a special interest in designing exercise regimes and classes for preschoolers and senior citizens and implements these through Your Move, her personal training and fitness business.

Sally is an inspiring and concerned coach of girls’ basketball and softball. She understands the importance of team cohesiveness and positive personal relationships among the girls on her teams. She is both a vocalist and instrumentalist which enables her to compose songs for many occasions, including those to boost the confidence and "can win" mental attitude of the sport team she is currently coaching.

In 1994, Sally received an M.S. degree in adapted physical education from Mankato State University. She incorporated her interest and expertise in dog obedience in her research to ascertain how owning a trained service dog had affected the socialization and physical activities of individuals with special hearing, visual or physical movement needs.

She is a long-time Red Cross volunteer instructor of CPR and first aid. Her other volunteer efforts are devoted to teaching dog obedience to 4-H youth and judging at 4-H fairs.

Sally is the daughter of Kathleen Shaver (M.S., 1974, and 1987) and the late Charles Shaver (B.S., 1956).
