Sally Kotval Deters worked in the ISU Department of Residence from 1979-2019. Sally was a strong student advocate and champion for women and LGBTQIA+ students. During her time as a Coordinator of Residence Life, Sally oversaw student conduct and dedicated her work to helping students learn and thrive while living in community. Sally has been a supervisor, teacher, mentor, friend, ally, and a pillar of strength for many. Her contributions to the ISU community and the ripple effect of the transformative change she has created cannot be quantified. Her work continues to impact the learning and work of former students, supervisees, colleagues, and professionals across higher education. Student affairs is a better profession because of her dedication and support.
