Sandra Courtney Sellers, Ph.D. Iowa State University, 1991, has been an outstanding contributor to the advancement of Nursing Education in a wide variety of academic settings. Her efforts to challenge her students to expand the impact of their own understanding of nursing theory and its application to their own teaching of others and their own practice has had and will have an incalculable effect on the provision of nursing care and education throughout Iowa and beyond.
Her ongoing work with other educators, her publications and her community and professional service have improved the scope and depth of community, hospital, college and university nursing educational programs.
Her encouragement of innumerable working students to improve patient advocacy and professional nursing advocacy has enhanced the provision of competent confident patient care and enhanced the status and reputation of nurses in a wide variety of health care settings.
