Sandra Mae (Bauer) Driscoll 1948 - 1992 grew up with five brothers and sisters in rural Iowa. As a middle child she was in charge of the youngest children. As Sandy grew up she took on the responsibility of everyone around her. It seemed she was always helping her friends and family or worrying about them. She seemed to understand any problem and always had several ideas to solve it. Sandy was a problem solver. After high school Sandy decided to attend technical school to develop her artistic talent into a drafting talent. Although she was constantly discouraged by her male teachers for being a woman in a male dominated profession she graduated top of her class because she had determination and talent!
Soon after Sandy married Clete Driscoll and they had their first daughter Anita Marie. Sandy worked intermittently during the next ten years as she had two more daughters - Angela Marie and Andrea Sue ("Dink" as she's called even now). Sandy started working full-time once Dink was in school. She was drafting for a civil engineering company in Dubuque when Anita was in high school. This inspired Anita to get her Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering at Iowa State University in December of 1990. Angie took her inherited artistic nature and entered the College of Design at I.S.U. in 1991. Although Sandy did not get the chance to see Angie graduate from college or Dink graduate from high school (1994) she is with us every day of our lives.
Sandra Mae Driscoll, our mother, was truly an inspirational woman. She raised three very different young women and provided encouragement for each and all of their decisions and endeavors. She showed them that hard work and determination is all that is necessary to accomplish any goal. She loved them and was always there for them throughout her life. We love her and miss her very much.
