It all began in 1907, when Sara's great-grandfather graduated from Iowa State College, followed by both sets of grandparents, parents, and sister. In 1990 she began her career at Iowa State and graduated in 1995 with a degree in Sociology/Social Work. With her husband being in the Coast Guard, she and her family moved every two years or so, until they were stationed in Annapolis for about five years. Sara began substitute teaching in high school and volunteering for the Boy Scouts. She wrote an after-school program for boys too young to yet join the Scouts but would teach them some of the basics of scouting and a few life skills.
She is working on a Master's degree in Mental Health Education and plans to teach as well as counsel.
Her love of learning bloomed at Iowa State, and she has passed this on to her children.
She has done well in her life and will touch many lives in the years to come. Her dedication to teaching as well as learning is a great asset.
