Shannon is a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She puts everyone's needs above her own. No matter how long a day it has been and how tired she is she will help someone whenever they are in need. She never expects anything in return and is appreciative even with a simple thank you. She has dedicated her life to making other people's lives better. She is an inspiration to her daughters and to their entire community she serves. She has taught her daughters to be themselves and to always trust their gut. The McPherson family could not think of a better person to be honored on the Plaza of Heroines. As an Iowa State alumni, she is loyal and forever true and represents everything Iowa State hopes their students become.
