Stella Ethel Burras is an inspiration to her family, friends, and community. She is a 6th generation Iowa woman. She, like all the other women of her family, strives to make Iowa a more just and livable state. Stella's life has been dedicated to service, to her family, community, and church.

She was born March 10, 1929. She graduated from Blakesburg High School in 1947, attended Iowa Wesleyan College for two years, and then taught at a rural Wright County school. She married Irving Burras in 1951. They had a wonderful marriage that lasted 32 years before Irving died.

During their marriage Stella helped Irving farm, graduated from Drake University, taught elementary school, and was a welder. She did all of this while also raising seven successful children. Stella continues to serve today through a variety of church and DAR activities. The children of Stella Burras honor her with this brick.
