Teresa Greenwood, nee Binning, grew up on the family farm in rural Decatur County, Iowa. In May 1992, she graduated from Iowa State University first in her class earning a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in Home Economics Education. Teresa taught family and consumer science courses for three years in Canton, Illinois, then returned to Iowa to teach in the Carlisle district. In 1996, the Iowa Vocational Association named her Outstanding Young Educator. Teresa put her fulltime teaching career on hold to be a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. She is married to Patrick Greenwood (Liberal Arts and Sciences ’92). They have three children; William (Health Sciences ’21), Katherine (a junior at the University of Northern Iowa), and Jack (admitted to Iowa State University Fall ‘22). Teresa continues to teach as a substitute, and she serves her community as a volunteer in many areas including as Chair of the City of Lamoni’s Library Board of Trustees. She is a heroine in the eyes of many for her loving and devoted service to her faith, family, and community.
