Vera Leona (Havens) Sharp born July 4, 1907, at the family farm outside Conrad, Iowa, where she presently resides. She attended what was then called Iowa State College in the mid 1920s. Vera has risen to leadership positions in most every organization to which she has belonged serving the communities in which she has lived: President of Conrad High School Drama Club, 1923;   President of Vienna Township Sewing and 4H Club 1924;   President of Marshall County 4H Club, 1924;  President of the Tuesday Study Club; Green Mountain President of WSCS Conrad Methodist Church, 1950-1951;  President of First Congregational Church of Marshalltown Women's Society;  President of Marshall County Council of Republican Women, 1958;  Chairman of Legislative Committee of Third District of Council of Republican Women of Iowa, 1958; Vice Regent of Marshalltown Chapter of DAR, 1963; Vice President of Entre Nous Marshalltown, 1963;     Chairman of Sewing Committee of Zem Zem; Court Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, West Palm Beach Fla.;  President of Hartung Court Riviera Beach Florida, 1977.  

In 1995, Vera Leona (Havens) Sharp continues an active life with a variety of interests as exemplified by the following organizations in which she maintains memberships: Aquarius Temple #138, Daughters of the Nile, Florida White Shrine of Jerusalem, Marshalltown St. Elmo's Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, #398 Conrad with a membership of over 50 years. Vienna Willing Workers, Vienna Township Vienna Cemetery Association, Vienna Township Marshall County Farm Bureau since 1930. Vera continues to participate socially in many groups and is active in the Conrad Methodist Church.

Her family is proud of her keen mind wit wisdom independence indomitable spirit and loving concern for all whose lives she touches.
